The Eagles exploded for six runs on five hits in the first inning to take an early 6-0 lead. A two-run double by Zach Maxfield highlighted the scoring for FGCU.
Tim Roberson added a run in the second driving in Mikel Alvarez on a sacrifice fly to center to make the score 7-0.
In the third, after a Austin Gaines double, Stephen Wickens tripled to right to score Gaines to give Florida Gulf Coast a 8-0 lead.

A two-run double by Scruggs in the seventh cut the FGCU lead to 11-4.
