BUIES CREEK, N.C. (Oct. 7, 2009) - After earning its second Atlantic Sun Conference win over the weekend, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to extend its winning ways as the Buccaneers travel for a 5:00 p.m., contest Thursday night at Campbell.
The Bucs (3-9-0, 2-2-0 A-Sun) enter the match after picking up three more conference points with their 3-0 victory over Lipscomb, Sunday. In that critical contest junior midfielder Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.), junior forward Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), and freshman forward Tori Head (Kingsport, Tenn.) all scored goals against the Lady Bisons.
Defensively, sophomore keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.) looks to continue her outstanding play between the pipes. The second-year starter leads the A-Sun with 85 saves, after posting her second shutout of the season against Lipscomb.
Campbell (7-6-0, 2-2-0 A-Sun) returns home after splitting its two-match road trip with Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast. In the Camels win over FGCU, sophomore midfielder Marisa Miller netted the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
The key to Campbell's success has been defense. Currently, the Camels sit fourth among league members with a 1.30 goals against average and four shutouts.
Thursday meeting marks the fifth time the two conference rivals have met with each team splitting the all-time series 1-1-2. The last two contests between both squads have been classics, as ETSU and Campbell have tied twice, with a 1-1 draw in 2007, and a 0-0 double overtime affair in 2008.
