JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 27, 2007) - ETSU men's basketball coach Murry Bartow announced Monday that the Buccaneers have added the final player to their 2007-08 recruiting class, signing 6-foot-1 junior college guard Jacolby Davis (Meridian, Miss.).
Davis, who spent the last two seasons at Georgia Perimeter College, helped lead his team to the national tournament a year ago and spent the last two years as one of the nation's top players in steals. In addition, Davis put up impressive numbers during the year with 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He was named the MVP of the Georgia Conference Tournament.
"We felt we needed another guard and Jacolby can play the point or the two," said Bartow, whose team is coming off an Atlantic Sun regular season championship and a 24-win season a year ago. "He had a great two years at Georgia Perimeter. He's a quick, athletic player, and he can really make things happen on the defensive end."
Davis rounds out a five player recruiting class that includes guard Tommy Hubbard (Boston), and forwards Kevin Tiggs (Flint, Mich.), Greg Hamlin ( Flint, Mich.) and Isiah Brown (Miami, Fla.). For more on ETSU men's basketball, visit ETSUBucs.com throughout the preseason.
