MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (March 11, 2007) - Firing a course record 65 in the second round, ETSU senior and the nation's No. 6 ranked player Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) is currently tied for the individual lead following Sunday's first and second round action in the General Jim Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. Davies, who won this same event in 2005, is also doing his part to help the Buccaneers in the team competition, as ETSU attempts to repeat as champion of the event after having won here a year ago. Currently, the 10th-ranked Buccaneers are tied for fifth place at 4-over-par, 27 strokes off the pace set by first-place Lamar.
"Rhys really played well today, especially in the second round," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "Gareth (Shaw) also had a good day with a 69. We just had to count some scores that hurt us in the team standings, and Lamar had a really good day as a team."
