(Feb. 9, 2006) - Senior guard Tim Smith (Newport News, Va.) became ETSU basketball's all-time leading scorer, surpassing former Buccaneer great Greg Dennis' total of 2,204 points as the Bucs dropped Campbell 89-81 in Atlantic Sun Conference play Thursday night at Memorial Center.

ETSU head coach Murry Bartow was pleased to see Smith break the record.
"I'm happy for Timmy and glad to see him get the record behind him," Bartow said. "Greg Dennis was a great player here and it's special for Tim to catch a guy like that. Tim's such a great competitor, a fighter and a winner."
Winning seemed to be a question mark for the Bucs late in Thursday's game, a contest which pitted ETSU, the nation's No. 1 scoring offense at 84.0 ppg, and Campbell, the nation's No. 3 scoring offense at 87.3 ppg. Despite the fact that ETSU never trailed in the contest, the Fighting Camels did manage to cut the Bucs' 10-point halftime lead to only two at 66-64 with
