Saturday, May 15, 2004ATLANTA (May 15, 2004) - With NCAA Regionals just around the corner, ETSU junior Kim Simmons (Knoxville, Tenn.) qualified in the 800m at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Her time of 2:09.04 placed her 16th overall in the event and was a personal best. "I'm delighted for Kim, all of her hard work has paid off," stated assistant coach Michelle Byrne. "By earning an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark, she has the opportunity to keep improving and make great strides in her performance." Senior Kristin Truman (Johnson City, Tenn.) recorded a mark of 12.04m in the triple jump, while in the high jump, freshman Anna Marie Ricciardi (Canfield, Ohio) recorded a mark of 1.68m for 13th place. On the men's side, sophomore James Rainer (Alcoa, Tenn.) competed in the 100 meter dash for the Bucs. He recorded a time of 10.57. Senior David Cabbler (Roanoke, Va.) ran in the final meet of his ETSU career recording a time of 53.85 in the 100m hurdles, which is a lifetime best. Also competing in this weekend's meet was ETSU assistant coach Phillip Rotich, who took second in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:49.03. ETSU's Regional Qualifiers will now advance to competition at LSU, which will take place on the weekend of May 29.
