JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State mens golf team fired a 584 (290-294) in their first two rounds of play, Saturday at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
The 13th ranked Buccaneers are tied with Augusta State for eighth, 17 shots back of No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Clemson, who are tied for the lead at 9-under par.
Senior Chris Wisler had a strong day for the Buccaneers, firing a two-round 141 (-3). Wisler finds himself in sole possession of sixth place, three shots back of individual leader Nick Cassini of Georgia.
Sophomore Thomas Lee shot a 1-over par 145 in his rounds, placing him in a tie for 24th going into the final round. Sophomore Adam Riddering was the next ETSU finisher, tying for 38th at 4-over par (72-76=148). Senior Pat Beste finished in a tie for 55th with a two round total of 151 (+7). Sophomore James Johnson closed out ETSUs day on the links, finishing in a tie for 71st at 12-over par (81-75).
The final round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational will tee off at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
