Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State University head basketball coach Ed DeChellis today announced that Sam Oatman (Neenah, Wis.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Buccaneer program.

Oatman earned four varsity letters for head coach Scott Anderson at Neenah High School. The 6'1" point guard was a three-time All-Conference honoree and also earned All-Area honors twice.

During the 1999-2000 season, Oatman earned honorable mention All-State and Post Crescent Player-of-the-Year honors. He was also selected to the All-Defensive team. Oatman led his team to a 19-5 record and a berth in the quarterfinals of the Wisconsin State High School Tournament.

"We are extremely excited to have Sam join our basketball program," DeChellis said. "He is an intelligent player that understands and knows how to play the game. He is an excellent shooter that also has the ability to find the open man on the court. We are very pleased to have Sam join our ETSU basketball family."
