ETSU men and women set for two-day indoor event
BOONE, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2011) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field teams begin the long-awaited start to the 2011-12 indoor season, as they hit the road for Boone, N.C. and the Appalachian Collegiate Indoor.
The meet is scheduled for two days, beginning with the men’s and women’s weight throw and triple jump at 5 p.m. on Friday, and the remaining events starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Events to be contested Saturday include the long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, 55m run, 55m hurdles, mile run, 400m run, 800m run, 200m run, 3000m run and 4x4 relay.
Joining ETSU for the first meet of the season will be Gardner Webb, King, Lees McRae, Lenoir-Rhyne, Livingstone, Mars Hill, Milligan, Savannah State, SC State, UNC Asheville, Voohees, Western Carolina, Winthrop, Wofford and host Appalachian State.
“We have been training hard all fall and are greatly looking forward to the meet this weekend,” said ETSU assistant coach Eli Sunquist. “The team has changed a lot from last year’s team, so it will be really interesting to see how everyone performs. We have 14 new men that will open up for us, as well as nine new women. The whole coaching staff is very excited to kick off the season at Boone.”
