KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 9, 2010) - Junior Mike James (Palm Bay, Fla.) and senior Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) highlighted the ETSU track and field team on Friday evening at the 44th annual Sea Relays, located inside LaPorte Stadium.

James, who entered the day ranked 39th in the East Region, propelled his way up the charts by clocking in at 14.29 and finishing fourth in the hurdles. James' time should now move him into the top 25 among athletes in the region.

Meanwhile, Monal was also sprinting his way to a top-five finish in the 100m and won his heat in the 200m. Monal turned in a time of 10.57 in 100m to finish fourth, and raced his way to an eighth-place showing by recording a mark of 21.18 in the 200m.

Elsewhere on the track, senior Kenneth Rotich (Nairobi, Kenya) turned in a season and conference best performance in the 5000m. Rotich finished seventh in the event, but he managed to cut eight seconds off his previous best by finishing in 14:33.47 - moving him past Lipscomb's Ryan Chastain for first in the conference race.

In the field events, senior Jordan Briggs (Erwin, Tenn.) turned in the best mark of his flight in the pole vault and placed eighth overall (15-01). With Briggs setting a season best height in the event, teammate Matt Baum (Middletown, Md.) made his season debut in the pole vault. Baum went on to post a mark of 14-07.25 and finished fifth in his flight.

A pair of freshman highlighted the Bucs in the triple jump on Friday evening. Both Ryan Beaver (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Jason Johnson (Springfield, Pa.), who rank one-two in the A-Sun, finished ninth and 11th, respectively. Beaver recorded a leap of 45-11.75, while Johnson recorded a mark of 44-11.

The Bucs wrap up competition in Knoxville on Saturday as the men's hammer kicks off the fourth and final day of the Sea Relays at 8:45 a.m.
