Bucs tennis blanks Jacksonville, 7-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 28, 2008) - The No. 33 ETSU men's tennis team defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins, 7-0 on Friday morning at the Keith Watson Tennis Complex. The Bucs improve to 16-3 on the year and 6-0 in conference play while the Dolphins fall to 4-10, 3-3.

 

ETSU claimed the doubles point for a 1-0 advantage as they swept all three matches. In the No. 1 position Alex Ahlgren (Tyreso, Sweden) and Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) defeated Francisco Riveroll and Victor Vaz, 8-4 while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) dropped Vinicius Craveiro and Marcos Oliveira, 8-0 in the second position. The Colombian duo of Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Sergio Velez (Medellin, Colombia) completed the sweep for the Bucs defeating Alberto Lopez and Clay Garrett, 8-2.

 

The Bucs then swept all six singles points for the 7-0 victory. In the No. 1 slot Enrique Olivares defeated Victor Vaz, 6-2, 6-2 while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia) dropped Francisco Riveroll, 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 slot Daniel Isaza cruised past Marcos Oliveira, 6-1, 6-4 while Alex Ahlgren defeated Vinicius Craveiro, 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth position. Freshmen Matej Zlatkovic (Ljubljana, Solvenia) and Sergio Velez earned the final two points for ETSU winning in the fifth and sixth slots respectively. Zlatkovic downed Alberto Lopez, 6-0, 1-0, ret. while Velez dropped Clay Garrett, 6-1, 6-2.

 

"We played very well today and hopefully everyone is still healthy for another tough match tomorrow," said head coach Yaser Zaatini.
