JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 18, 2008) - The No. 37 ETSU men's tennis team continued their title defense on Friday morning as they advanced to the semifinals of the 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament after downing Belmont, 4-0. The Bucs improve to 21-3 overall, while the Bruins fall to 0-19.

The Bucs took the early 1-0 lead as they captured the doubles point. Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia) and Lisandro Picardo (Mar del Plata, Argentina) cruised past Brady Manifold and Ian Schinelli, 8-0 in the No. 3 position, while Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) and Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) downed Francisco Garcia and Zach Zola, 8-0 in the No. 2 slot. The No. 1 doubles match was called when ETSU took the point.

ETSU again dominated in singles action blanking the Bruins in the No. 4, 5, and 6 positions. Conference tournament play is suspended when one team has clinched the match.  In the No. 4 slot Lisandro Picardo continued his perfect spring cruising past Francisco Garcia, 6-0, 6-0, while Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) rolled over Brady Manifold, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 slot. In the sixth position Daniel Isaza breezed by Ian Schinelli, 6-0, 6-0.

"This is a good way to get started. All the guys were ready to go. We knew Belmont's situation and we know they have had a rough season but our guys just came out ready to play. Tomorrow we expect more of the same. We expect our guys to come out and fight hard and compete hard," said head coach Yaser Zaatini.

The Bucs will face the winner of No.4 Jacksonville/No. 5 Gardner-Webb tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the ETSU Tennis Center. For all ETSU men's tennis action visit www.etsubucs.com.
