Bucs fall at ITA Mideast Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (October 20, 2006) - The ETSU men's tennis team wrapped up play on Friday afternoon at the ITA Mideast Regional Championships hosted by the University of North Carolina.

 

In the round of 64, Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) came from a set down as he defeated No. 81 Niklas Nielson of Maryland, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 before falling to Duke's Kiril Dimitrov, 6-0, 6-4. Sophomore Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) defeated No. 93 Jordan Delass of Georgia Tech in a hard fought 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3 before falling to Chris Kearney of North Carolina in the round of 32, 6-3, 6-2.

Also in the round of 64, senior Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) fell to No. 76 Andrew Hamar of Wake Forest, 7-5, 6-0 while Sebastian Serrano (Cartagena, Colombia) fell to 98 Colin O'Brien, 6-3, 7-6(4).

 

The Bucs will have a three week break before they travel to the Sunshine State to compete in the UNF Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. November 10-12. For all ETSU men's tennis action, visit www.etsubucs.com.
