Men's tennis finishes day one at ETSU Fall Collegiate Classic

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2004) - The East Tennessee State men's tennis team completed its first day of competition at the ETSU Fall Collegiate Classic on Friday afternoon at the Liberty Bell tennis courts.

Senior Federico Ochoa (Manizales, Columbia) and newcomer Adam Baldwin (Athens, Tenn.) represented the Buccaneer men out on the courts.

Ochoa advanced in the Singles A bracket by defeating Ryan Reynold's of Milligan College 6-3, 6-1. Next he will face Pedro Galavis of Tusculum College in the semifinals. Ochoa also won his first doubles match against Milligan and advanced to the finals with an 8-5 win over VI's Pierce and Halldorson.

Baldwin saw his first action as a Buccaneer in the Singles B bracket. He won his first match against Joe Dyer of Milligan College 6-3, 6-0 and will need to beat Adam Cornett of VI to advance to the finals.

Play continues for Ochoa and Baldwin tomorrow in the final day of the ETSU Fall Collegiate Classic. Matches begin at 8:00 a.m. This weekend members of the Buccaneer men's tennis team are also competing at the ICY/HOT ITA All-American tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn. Results for that tournament will be posted on www.etsubucs.com.
