Insauralde wins championship match at UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Invitational

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 6, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University men's tennis team wrapped up tournament play at the UNLV Men's Tennis Fall Invitational on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Select players from a total of seven schools participated in the event. Competitors include individuals from Illinois, which finished second in the nation last season, Tennessee, Fresno State, Utah, Portland, UNLV, and ETSU.

            All three of ETSU's participant's advanced to the semifinals competition of play on Saturday.

            In flight one singles competition, sophomore Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) won his first match of the day 6-4, 6-4 against #67 Aviram Saloman of UNLV to advanced to the final round. In the championship round Posada fell to UNLV's Joel Kielbowicz in a three set battle 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.

            In flight two singles, senior Fernando Fiuri (Villa Maria, Argentina) fell in the semifinals 6-1, 6-4 to Andrew Eklov of Illinois. Felix Insaurralde (Asuncion, Paraguay) also competed in that bracket and garnered a 7-5, 6-3 win in over Andy Sinn of Fresno State to advance to the finals where he defeated Eklov in a three set decision 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

            ETSU now prepares to begin dual competition and the regular season in January.
