Travis Sandlant (Werribee, Australia) and Alex Ahlgren Tyreso, Sweden) battled out their match in the third position. They led with breaks of serve twice at 3-1 and 5-3 before eventually falling in a tiebreaker to Andrew Hamar and Andrew Brasseaux 7-6.
In singles action Felix Insuarralde lost to # 4 Todd Paul 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 position, while Predrag Burmazovic (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) fell to Cory Parr 6-4, 6-3 in the second position. Enrique Olivares picked up a singles win for the Bucs in the No. 3 slot 6-4, 6-2 over Andrew Hamar, and Travis Sandlant lost to Steve Forman in the No. 5 slot.
Two of the Bucs were still fighting when the match was stopped. With the win decided in favor of Wake Forest, battles in the No. 4 and 6 positions were not completed. Lisandro Picardo was leading in his match against Jason Morgenstern, he had won the first set 6-3 and was serving at 4-3 in the second when his match was abandoned. Sebastian Serrano was also fighting and playing extremely well, winning his first set convincingly 6-1 before splitting sets with his opponent Mariusz Adamski, and was about to start the third.
"We played extremely well today, Wake Forest is very good," said head coach Yaser Zaatini. "Enrique and Lisandro played awesome. Lisandro fought like an animal and Sebastian's first set was the best set I have ever seen him play. Travis and Alex were also leading with breaks in their doubles match, and Sebastian and Enrique were close at No. 2. We had a lot of good chances, but that's the way it goes."
The Bucs will travel to Knoxville where they will take on University of Tennessee in their next match this Thursday, February 15 at 5 p.m.
