JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2013) - The ETSU men's soccer team capped off conference play by recording its league-leading ninth shutout of the season, tying Lipscomb, 0-0. With the result, senior goalkeeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) became the Atlantic Sun's all-time leader for career shutouts with 24, breaking the previous record which stood for nearly two decades.

Knotted at 0-0 with just 17 seconds remaining in the decisive second overtime period, Lipscomb's leading goal-scorer, Omar Djabi, was awarded a free kick just outside the box.

Djabi fired a shot toward the left post, however, Coulter made an impressive, acrobatic save to seal the record-breaking clean sheet.

ETSU outshot the Bisons (8-7-2, 4-2-1) by a wide 19-5 margin, however, the Bucs (7-5-4, 5-2-1) were unable to find the back of the net.

"It is a little bit disappointing," ETSU head coach Scott Calabrese said. "One thing we can take from this and what we have to look to do in the future is finishing our chances. We do have quite a bit of time now before the conference tournament to focus on that, address it, and become a whole lot better at it."

Seniors Jonny Campbell (Johnson City, Tenn.) and David Geno (Kingsport, Tenn.) paced ETSU with four shots each, including a 41st-minute header by Geno that nearly beat Lipscomb goalkeeper Micah Bledsoe.

With the shutout, Coulter moved past Florida International University's Jeff Cassar (1992-95) into first place in Atlantic Sun history for career clean sheets with 24.

"It means the world to me," Coulter said. "I came here three years ago and the coaches really believed in me. It's nice that I've been able to kind of repay the faith they had in me."

"Ryan [Coulter] has been a really important part of our success over the past three years," Calabrese said. "He has been a captain, a great leader, and he has performed really well for us. He will definitely be missed."

"It's great to be able to leave here with a record of my own," Coulter said. "It's been a team defensive effort, but it was nice to make that save with 17 seconds to go to get the recordagainst their leading goal-scorer, it was a nice way to seal it."

Coulter was one of nine outgoing seniors recognized prior to the match for Senior Night.

The Class of 2013 has compiled a record 42-24-12, including four wins and three draws against Top 25 opponents.

In 2010, the group helped guide ETSU to an Atlantic Sun Championship and the program's first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. It will depart as the winningest class in program history.

The Bucs will be back in action when they visit Wofford Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. for their regular season finale.
