Buccaneers recognized by three national polls

WILTON, Conn. (September 20, 2011) – Following its, 3-2, victory over Davidson on Saturday, the ETSU men’s soccer team has reclaimed its spot in the Soccer America rankings, checking in at No. 22, on Tuesday, in this week’s poll.

The Buccaneers are also No. 22 in the poll, and sit just one spot out of the NSCAA/Continental Tire top-25, as the highest vote-getters of the unranked teams, with 28 votes.

Two weeks ago, the Bucs entered the Soccer America poll for the first time in program history at No. 19, and headed for Norfolk, Va. to compete against then-No. 22 Old Dominion and then-No. 14 William and Mary in the Stihl Soccer Classic. Falling to ODU, 4-0, in the Friday night game, the Bucs rebounded to beat William and Mary on Sunday but consequently dropped from the Soccer America rankings.

After one week out of both national polls, the Bucs have now regained their position among the college soccer elite, but will have their ranking thoroughly tested yet again.

ETSU is set to play Virginia Tech, Winthrop and No. 25/23 Furman all this week, with the Hokies traveling to Summers-Taylor Stadium on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

Live stats will be offered throughout Tuesday night’s game, and live video will be provided courtesy of ASun.TV.

Fans in attendance will be treated to a limited supply of free food courtesy of Wendy’s. The pregame festivities will also include a chili cook-off amongst ETSU’s Greek organizations, with the winner earning a year’s supply of Wendy’s and his/her organization receiving one free meal.

Buc fans should also help ETSU celebrate the International Day of Peace. Before Tuesday night’s contest, the ETSU Honors College will be providing pregame activities for fans helping to support the cause.
