EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 10, 2010) - The ETSU men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over regionally ranked Bradley Friday night at the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic hosted by the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind.

"This was a very difficult test for our team tonight," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "We struggled with a slow start and conceded some early chances. However, the second half was a different story, and the players were able to improve their focus and get a grip on the game. I am very proud of the way the team responded in the second half. This was a well deserved win against a very strong opponent. We need to build on this as we now must face an exceptional Evansville squad."

The Bucs (2-1-0) handed Bradley (2-1-1) its first loss of the season as ETSU outshot the Braves 15-10 in the contest, while BU had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper James Holt (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) picked up his first win of the season as he had four saves on the night.

The first half was scoreless despite both teams having good looks in the half.

Sophomore David Haba gave ETSU a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute as Mario Sempario (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Itode Fubara (Ogbema, Nigeria) combined to find Haba free as he tapped the ball inside the near post past the Bradley keeper for a goal.

In the 56th minute, Fubara increased the Buccaneer lead to 2-0 as he blasted a shot from 15-yards out into the back of the net off of a Blaike Woodruff (Georgetown, Texas) corner kick.

The Braves cut the ETSU lead to 2-1 in the 58th minute on a Bryan Gual goal, but the ETSU defense stepped up and played tough to close out the match.

The Bucs are back in action on Sunday at 3:30 pm as they face the host Evansville Purple Aces in the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic. For more information on ETSU men's soccer and all other Buccaneer athletic news please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
