JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 17, 2010) - The ETSU men's soccer team was tabbed to finish fourth in the Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Guilherme Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Aaron Schoenfeld (Knoxville, Tenn.) also were named to the A-Sun Preseason All-Conference team becoming the first players to receive the honor in the program's brief history.

"I think this ranking shows that our peers in the A-Sun conference believe that our program is improving," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "This preseason ranking is the highest we have received in our short time as a program. However, we now must prove that we are deserving of this recognition through our actions on the field. I believe that many teams in the A-Sun will be much improved from last season and every game we play in the conference will be difficult."

The Bucs were picked behind Stetson, Campbell and Florida Gulf Coast in the poll, as they received one of the ten first place votes. Mercer finished one point back of ETSU in fifth place, while Jacksonville, Lipscomb, North Florida, Belmont and USC Upstate round out the bottom half of the poll.

ETSU was one of four teams to have two guys selected to the A-Sun Preseason All-Conference Team as Reis was one of only three unanimous selections on the squad.

"It is good to see the A-Sun recognize Guilherme and Aaron as I believe they are both well deserving of their preseason conference accolades," Calabrese said. "Guilherme is a very intelligent player with great anticipation and leadership skills. Aaron has a tremendous work ethic, and has worked hard to become very dangerous in and around the opponents penalty area."

The men's team is scheduled to play exhibitions at Wofford (Aug. 21) and home against Tusculum (Aug.27) before opening the regular season on the road at Furman on Sept. 1.

Reis was also honored earlier this month by the Premier Development League (PDL) as he was selected to the 2010 PDL Southern Conference Team.
