ETSU men's soccer to host Florida Gulf Coast

Thursday, October 15, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer team will look to get its first conference win of the season as the Bucs host Florida Gulf Coast Friday at 4 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Soccer Stadium.

The Bucs (1-6-3, 0-2-1 A-Sun) dropped two heartbreakers last weekend as they fell 1-0 in double overtime at Mercer, and dropped a hard fought 4-3 match to Campbell. Sophomore Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) and junior Guilherme Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece.

ETSU lost its only match against the Eagles a year ago suffering a 3-0 defeat on the road.

FGCU (5-5-1, 3-1-0 A-Sun) comes into the match having won its last two conference matches against Belmont 4-0 and Lipscomb 2-1. The Eagles are led by Cristian Raudales as he has five goals, an assist and 11 points on the season.

Friday is Buc Wild Day at men's soccer as all active 2009-10 Buc Wild members will receive free pizza from CiCi's and have a chance to earn double points. There will also be a special recognition for select ETSU faculty at halftime of the FGCU match to honor the players' favorite professors.
