Bruins shutout Buccaneer men's soccer, 4-0

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2008) - The ETSU men's soccer team dropped its fourth straight conference match Sunday afternoon as the Bucs were shutout by Belmont in Brentwood, Tenn., 4-0.


The Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute as Justin Hay netted a shot past the ETSU keeper. The Bucs outshot Belmont in the first half 9-7, but were unable to get on the board as the score would remain 1-0 at the half.


In the second half, Belmont got a quick goal from Dan Meacock in the 52nd minute as he won a free ball outside of the 18-yard box and fired a shot into the back of the goal to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.


The Bruins added to their lead in the 54th minute as Navarda Heath flicked the pass from Alex Davis into the goal to make the score 3-0 Belmont. Will Moorad put the game out of reach in the 78th minute as he collected a long pass from Meacock and scored as he was able to break away from the ETSU defenders to make the final 4-0.


ETSU (4-7, 0-4 A-Sun) was outshot 17-13 by the Bruins, while James Holt (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) had eight saves in the match.
