Thursday, October 30, 2008

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 30, 2008) - The ETSU men's soccer team is set to head to Fort Myers, Fla. to take on conference opponent Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at 7 p.m. at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

The Bucs (5-8-1, 1-5-1 A-Sun) currently sit two points back of Mercer for the last spot in the conference tournament. ETSU would earn a tournament berth with either a win against the Eagles or Stetson and a Mercer loss to Campbell, or wins against both Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson.

ETSU is 1-1-1 in its last three matches having defeated USC Upstate in overtime, 2-1, and tied Mercer, 1-1, while dropping a close match to Campbell at home, 1-0. The Bucs are led offensively by Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) who has three game-winning-goals and seven points on the season.

The Eagles (4-10-1, 2-5 A-Sun) come into the match having won their last game against Lipscomb, 2-1, after dropping matches to Belmont and Jacksonville. FGCU is led by Francesco DiStefano as he has four goals, two assists and four points on the year.
