DELAND, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2008) - The ETSU men's soccer team dropped its final conference match of the season to Stetson Sunday afternoon at the Stetson Soccer Complex in DeLand, Fla., 4-1.

The Hatters took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute as Kirk Labusch netted the cross from Gonzalo de Mujica. Stetson added another goal in the 28th minute when de Mujica and Kevin Munz combined to find Richard Porteous, who then fired a shot from 20 yards out into the back of the net to go up 2-0.

Munz and de Mujica combined again to find Fredrik Brustad on a counter-attack breakaway, as Brustad beat the ETSU keeper to increase the Hatter lead to 3-0 in the 33rd minute. The Bucs took three shots in the period, but were unable to get on the board as the score remained 3-0 Stetson at the half.

In the 52nd minute, de Mujica netted a goal of his own, as he flicked a pass from Jack Johnson past the ETSU keeper into the goal to increase the Hatter lead to 4-0.

ETSU got on the board in the 68th minute as Blake Pelton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) headed a ball from Tyler Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) off of a free kick into the back of the net to cut the Stetson lead to 4-1. The Bucs had a couple chances late in the half, but it was not enough as the Hatters held on to make the final 4-1.

Stetson outshot the Bucs (5-10-1, 1-7-1) 19-9 and had the advantage in corners 7-5. James Holt (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) led the Bucs defensively with nine saves in the match.

The Bucs are back in action on Nov. 8 at noon as they are set to host Radford at Summers-Taylor Stadium. Please visit www.ETSUBucs.com for more information on ETSU men's soccer or any other Buccaneer athletic team.
