Senior goalkeeper wins weekly award following Bucs’ impressive weekend
MACON, Ga. (Sept. 16, 2013) – After recording a pair of shutouts over the weekend, ETSU senior goalkeeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) has been named Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 9.
Coulter played an integral part in ETSU’s shutout of regionally-ranked Memphis Friday, Sept. 13 and the Bucs’ 1-0 shutout win over No. 8 UAB Sunday, Sept. 15, making a total of eight saves in the two contests. Entering the weekend, UAB featured the nation’s top-ranked scoring offense, averaging nearly four goals per game through its first three contests.
Coulter, who has recorded shutouts in four of his five starts this season, lowered his goals against average to a conference-best mark of 0.18 and save percentage to an impressive 0.914. The ETSU co-captain and reigning Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year also moved to third place on the Atlantic Sun all-time list for career shutouts (19).
Coulter and the Buccaneers (2-1-2) have not allowed a goal in the past four games.
ETSU will host Furman Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
