JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 31, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer is set to host Belmont on Sunday at 2 p.m. as it will be senior day at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
"There is so much to play for against Belmont," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "A win against the Bruins would give us a chance to play at home in front of our fans in the A-Sun tournament. That means everything to me and our team. I think we are going to come out and play strong as we look to clinch home field in the first round."
The Bucs (4-8-3, 3-4-1 A-Sun) currently sit in fourth spot for the Atlantic Sun tournament with ten points after a 3-0 rout of Lipscomb on Friday. A Campbell win over Jacksonville on Saturday night would clinch the Bucs a spot in the A-Sun tournament, as the Buccaneers can finish as high as the third seed in the tournament and host the first round.
Sophomore Aaron Schoenfeld (Knoxville, Tenn.) has come on strong for ETSU as he is tied for the team lead in goals (3) after netting game-winners against North Florida and Lipscomb. ETSU fell to the Bruins 4-1 in the only meeting between the two teams in 2008.
Belmont (3-12-1, 2-6-0 A-Sun) has dropped its last two matches against Lipscomb 1-0 and USC Upstate 2-1. The Bruins are led by freshman Brandon Tarr as he is second in the conference with eight goals on the year.
