The game is one of two tune ups for the Buccaneers before the home opener on Aug. 29 against Appalachian State at 5 p.m. ETSU will head to Asheville, N.C., this Saturday for an exhibition against UNC Asheville.
Last season, King College finished with a record of 9-10-1, and was 4-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. King ended the year ranked in the top five regionally after winning its league tournament championship.
The Bucs finished up their first week of practice with the first ever Blue/Gold game. The Blue team won 2-1 on goals by Aliyu Sugri (LaVergne, Tenn.) and Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.). Sugri scored on a cross by Andrew Brown (Montego Bay, Jamaica), and Hoek later scored on a pass from Sugri to give the Blue team a 2-0 lead. The Gold scored late in the second half as Kyle Franklin (Maryville, Tenn.) beat the keeper with a brilliant shot, but it was too little too late as the Blue team would hold on for the win.
