TOWNSEND, Del. (July 11, 2013) – The rest of the players in the Delaware State Golf Association’s Amateur Championship were probably wondering if Chris Hickman really played all 72 holes.

Hickman capped perhaps the most dominant performance in the history of Delaware golf on Wednesday, shooting a 67 to finish four rounds at Odessa National Golf Club in 268 strokes – 20 under par.

The 19-year-old started the final round with a 12-stroke lead. He finished it with a 21-stroke victory, a margin that longtime DSGA observers believe is the largest in tournament history.

“I told my grandma coming into the week I wanted to win by a large margin ... and I was fortunate enough to do that,” Hickman said.

The left-hander from Centreville, Md., is a member at Wild Quail Country Club and is preparing for his sophomore season on the golf team at East Tennessee State. The three-time DSGA Junior champion led this tournament by three strokes going into the final round last year, only to shoot 74 at Frog Hollow Golf Club and lose to P.J. Tighe by one shot.

There was no drama Wednesday. Not even close.
