JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 8, 2011) – The ETSU men’s golf team will open its fall season at the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill on Saturday morning.

The tournament, hosted by Northern Illinois and held at Rich Harvest Farms, is scheduled for 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 on Sunday.

The Bucs return three players from a season ago, including Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, Engalnd) and Peter Wilson (Locust Valley, N.Y.), who both missed much of last season due to injuries. Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.), who was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team last season, also returns for the Bucs. The squad also welcomes in five freshmen.

ETSU earned a victory at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational last spring for the second straight year. The Bucs have captured at least one team title in each of the last three seasons, while ETSU head coach Fred Warren has won 44 tournament titles in his time at ETSU.

In addition to the Bucs, the field includes: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Florida, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois, Purdue, St. Francis, Toledo, Tulsa, and Virginia Tech. Six teams in the field were ranked in the top-60 at the end of last season
according to Golfstat, headlined by No. 7 Illinois.
