Men's golf wraps up Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 22, 2011) - ETSU sophomore Patrick Spraggs (Rochford, England) posted an even-par 72 to lead the Bucs on the final day of the Puerto Rico Classic on the par-72, 6,902-yard River Course at the Rio Mar Beach Resort.
Spraggs recorded three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey during Tuesday's final round to close out the tournament at 3-over (74-73-72—219). He led the Bucs by finishing tied for 35th overall.
The Bucs struggled during the final day of the event by posting a team score of 306 to finish the tournament in 15th position at +29 (294-293-306).
No. 4 Alabama won the team title as they finished the tournament at 28-under-par, five shots ahead of No. 5 Georgia Tech. The two teams were tied for the lead after two rounds of play. No. 2 Oklahoma finished third at 18-under, while No. 13 Georgia (6-under) and Virginia Tech (1-under) rounded out the top-five.
James White of Georgia Tech won the individual title by one shot over Bud Cauley of Alabama. White shot a three-day score of 10-under. Kyle Scott of Georgia Tech finished in third at 8-under
ETSU freshman Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) finished tied for 61st at +9 (69-72-81—225) overall after struggling on the final day with an 81. Devin Komline (Dorset, Vt.) also had a tough final round to finish three strokes behind Lawson for the event at +12 (75-70-83—228).
Freshman Lucas Armstrong (Church Hill, Tenn.) and senior Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) finished at +13 and +14 respectively to wrap up the ETSU scoring. Armstrong shot a final round 78, while O'Kane recorded a 75.
The Bucs return to action on March 13 as they will travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the General Hackler Invitational.
