Davies wraps up U.S. Open weekend with 5-over 76

Sunday, June 20, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 20, 2010) - Former ETSU All American Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) ended a memorable week on Sunday, wrapping up his first ever major tournament weekend with a 5-over-par 76 in the final round of the U.S. Open to finish tied for 74th at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Davies, who posted two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine for an even par 36, endured five bogeys on the back nine to finish at 5-over. For the tournament, he finished at 19-over 303 (78-70-79-76=303).

Having played in the 2007 U.S. Open and the 2009 British Open, Davies had yet to make a cut in a major. He ended that string this week by making the cut at Pebble Beach and he will now begin preparations for the British Open which will be played in July. Davies earned his spot in the 2010 British Open due to his strong play this season on the European Tour.
