ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 12, 2008) - Led by a 2-under par 70 from senior Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland), the ETSU men's golf team could not have had a better start to its 2008-09 season, posting a team score of 1-under 287 to take the top spot on the leaderboard following first round action in the Carpet Capital Collegiate Friday afternoon at the Farm Golf Club.

The 14th-ranked Buccaneers - who had three players in the Top 14 on the individual leaderboard - are currently two strokes better than second place Central Florida, three strokes better than Mississippi, and four strokes ahead of both Clemson and Chattanooga. On the individual leaderboard, Findlay is two strokes back of individual leader Blayne Barber of UCF.

"We played a very strong round today as a team," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "Jordan was very good, but so were the rest of the guys. Having three players at or under par is the key, and finishing 1-under as a team is obviously something to be happy with."

Along with Findlay, ETSU sophomore Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) was also under-par with a 1-under 71, while fellow sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) fired an even-par 72. O'Kane is currently tied for ninth, while Enoch is tied for 14th.

Other ETSU results included a tie for 29th by freshman Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) with a 2-over 74, while junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) tied for 36th at 3-over 75.
