ETSU sophomore won medalist honors at prestigious Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

MACON, Ga. (Oct. 8, 2008) - Building off a successful freshman campaign, ETSU sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) started the 2008 fall season strong, highlighted by a win at the Shoal Creek Invitational to win his first Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

At an event featuring seven of the top 30 teams in the country, Enoch fired a 3-under-par 69 to take the lead after the second round at Shoal Creek and went on to post a 1-under 71 in the final round, capturing the individual championship for his first collegiate win. Enoch, a native of Cornwall, England, joined another former ETSU player with the same first name as winners of the Shoal Creek event. Rhys Davies captured the title in 2005. After two events, Enoch currently leads the 18th-ranked Buccaneers with a 73.5 stroke average. Since ETSU joined the conference four years ago, a member of the Buccaneer men's golf team has won 14 of the 19 Golfer of the Month awards.
