Davies, Shaw lead way for Bucs during second round at Carpet Capital Collegiate

            ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 16, 2006) - Senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) fired a 2-under-par 70 and sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) continued his steady play with a 1-under 71, as the ETSU men's golf team finished 11th on the team leaderboard following second round play Saturday in the Carpet Capital Collegiate.

 

            Shaw is currently tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard at 3-under for the tournament, while Darren Blair of North Carolina State continues to lead after posting his second straight sub-70 round to stand at 10-under for the event. Clemson leads the team standings at 18-under, holding a three-stroke advantage over first-round leader Alabama. The Bucs are 3-over for the tournament.

 

            Davies, the nation's No. 4-ranked player and the Carpet Capital Collegiate's defending champion, is currently tied for 37th at 1-over. Meanwhile, sophomore Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) and freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) are tied for 60th.
