JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 4, 2005) - The Atlantic Sun Conference named ETSU's Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) as October Golfer of the Month on Friday, marking the second month in a row that the junior has captured that honor.

Davies continues to climb in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, reaching third in the poll released this week. For the month, Davies won the individual title at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges with three consecutive sub-70 rounds and earlier in the month placed third overall at the VCU/Mantaponni Springs Shootout. He currently holds a 69.0 scoring average and has six sub-70 scores in nine rounds played. Davies will be going for his eighth win in the last 12 months at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on November 4-6. If he can capture medallist honors, Davies would match Tiger Woods' mark of eight wins in a span of a year.

The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Golfer of the Month awards on the first Thursday of every month during the 2005-06 campaign.

As a team, the Bucs rose to No. 25 in the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll, which is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. It is their first appearance in that poll this year. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Nov. 18.
