TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 7, 2006) - The 11th-ranked ETSU men's golf team struggled during final round play at the Seminole Intercollegiate, posting a 301 to drop from first place and ultimately finish fourth Tuesday at the Golden Eagle Country Club.
Coastal Carolina took home the team championship with a three-round score of 13-under 851, followed by second-place North Carolina State at 6-under-par. ETSU finished at 3-under 861 for the event. On the individual leaderboard, N.C. State's Stephen Lewton took home the title with a playoff win over Coastal's Dustin Johnson. Both players finished tied at 13-under.
ETSU junior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) enjoyed the Bucs' top finish, as the PING first-team All-American posted a 4-under 212 and ended the event in sixth place. Meanwhile, sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) finished 16th at even par, and freshman Adam Hodkinson (Dore, England) placed tied for 27th at 4-over. Freshman Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) - who was selected as the A-Sun Golfer of the Month earlier in the day - could not stay hot after firing rounds of 70 and 68 on the first two days of the tournament. Findlay stumbled to a final round 84 and a 37th place finish on Tuesday.
