Davies currently tied for first, ETSU ninth at Seminole Intercollegiate
Davies Sunday, March 06, 2005 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 6, 2005) - Firing a 3-under-par 69 during Sunday's first round at the Golden Eagle Country Club, ETSU sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) finds himself currently tied with Virginia's Kevin O'Connell atop the individual leaderboard at the Seminole Intercollegiate. Davies is going for his second individual title of the 2004-05 season, after having captured the Carpet Capital Colleigate championship back in November.
Meanwhile, on the team leaderboard, Coastal Carolina currently leads the way after posting a score of 3-over-par 291. Texas A&M and N.C. State are just three-strokes back of the Chanticleers in second place, while the Bucs are a mere eight strokes off the pace at 299. Davies and O'Connell currently hold a one-stroke lead over Coastal Carolina's Moises Cobo at 2-under-par 70. Along with Davies, other ETSU scores from day one included a 1-over-par 73 from freshman Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland), which was good enough to tie him for 11th. Meanwhile, sophomore Stephen Arnold (Langhorn, Penn.) finished tied for 51st, senior Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) placed tied for 58th, and freshman Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) is currently tied for 63rd.
The Bucs will continue with second round play at the Seminole Intercollegiate on Monday. Seminole Intercollegiate
