SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 10, 2005) - Sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) and junior Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) made it a clean sweep for the East Tennessee State University men's and women's golf programs, as both were named Southern Conference Golfers of the Week for the week ending Oct. 10.

Davies earned the award after besting the field at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State University earlier this week. Davies - who posted a career-best score of 207 - fired rounds of 69 and 67 at the Golden Eagle Country Club, helping the Buccaneers to an 8^th-place finish. The win marked Davies' second individual championship of the year, after having won the Carpet Capital Collegiate during the fall season.

As for Barton, she finished tied for second at the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College this past weekend, helping the Bucs to their second-straight championship in the event. Barton fired rounds of 78 and 76 en route to the finish.

Both the men's and women's golf programs will return to action this weekend, with the men participating in the Coastal Carolina Invitational March 13-14 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the women will play in the Lady Gamecock Classic hosted by South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., from March 11-13.
