Dalton, Ga. (Sept. 27, 2002) - East Tennessee State's men's golf team had an impressive first round at the Carpet Capitol Collegiate, firing a team total of 284 (-4), the team's lowest round of the season. The Buccaneers' score was good enough for second place after the first round, one stoke ahead of UNLV and two ahead of Clemson. Florida has the first-round lead as the Gators shot a 278 (-10). The Tournament, hosted by Georgia Tech, is being played at the Farm Golf Club on a par 72, 6,906-yard course.
