Men's Golf Finishes 11th At Puerto Rico Classic
Tuesday, February 29, 2000 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The men's golf team finished 11th at the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a three-round score of 889 (294-299-296) at the par-72 Rio Mar Country Club Golf Course. East Tennessee State was led by junior Patrick Beste who finished tied for 35th. Beste shot a 75 in the final round to finish the tournament with a 222 (74-73-75). Junior Chris Wisler shot a team-best 72 in the final round to finish tied for 45th with a tournament score of 223 (73-78-72). Freshman Adam Gary finished tied for 50th (71-74-79--224); sophomore Justin Lee (77-76-74--227) finished tied for 56th with teammate Thomas Lee (76-76-75--227). Georgia Tech won the team crown with a three-round 853 (284-282-287). Northwestern's Luke Donald (70-69-68--207) bested Georgia Tech's Bubba Watson (71-71-68--210) by three strokes to claim the individual medal. The Bucs will return to action at the Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Florida from March 6-7. |
