Johnson City, Tenn. (July 9, 2002) - East Tennessee State head cross country and track and field coach Dave Walker announced the signing of Paul Dable and Peter Dalton to national letters of intent today. Both student-athletes will join the Buccaneers this season after successful prep careers overseas. Dable, originally from Warwick, England, qualified for the National Schools Cross Country Finals from 1994 through 2000. Dable took ninth place in the National Colleges Cross Country Championships this year and was the Warwickshire champion in the 800, 1500 and 2000-meter runs between 1999 and 2001. As a member of a club team in Leamington, Dable helped his squad to a ninth place overall finish at the National Road Relays in 2001 and 2002. Dalton comes to ETSU from Dublin, Ireland, where he ran in the All-Ireland Cross Country Championships from 1995-2002 with his highest finish being third place in 1999. Dalton has captured numerous first-place finishes in the Dublin Cross Country and Track and Field Championships as a member of the Blackrock Athletic Club and Dundrum South Dublin Athletic Club. Recently, Dalton won the International Mountain Running Championships after winning the All-Ireland Mountain event four years in a row.
