SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 28, 2005) - For the second straight year, ETSU junior Tim Smith (Newport News, Va.) has been named to the Media All-Southern Conference first team.

Smith, a 5-9 point guard, led the league in scoring this season, averaging 21.3 points per game. Smith's second first-team selection goes on a mantle that already includes two-straight Coaches first-team All-SoCon selections, two SoCon Tournament MVP awards (2003 & 2004) and a SoCon Freshman of the Year honor (2002-03).

One of the most decorated players in SoCon history, Smith and the Buccaneers will return to action on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament being played in Chattanooga. No. 5 seed ETSU will face No. 4 seed Furman in the McKenzie Arena on the UTC campus. The Bucs will be attempting to win their third-straight SoCon Tournament title.
