BOONE, N.C. Appalachian State's Shawn Hall registered a career-high 37 points on 12-of-25 shooting from the floor as the Mountaineers (7-3, 1-0 SoCon) used a torrid shooting pace in their 108-94 victory over East Tennessee State at Holmes Center Monday night. The Mountaineers netted 22-of-31 field goal tries (71 percent) in the second half and totaled 62.5 percent (40-of-64) for the game. The Apps made good on 7-of-9 tries from the floor over the last 6:28 to secure the victory. After the Bucs' Tiras Wade (Tampa, Fla.) scored four straight points to cut the Mountaineers' lead to five, at 71-66 with 11:31 left, the Apps followed with a run of there own. They pushed six straight points off of fast breaks to claim a 77-66 lead with 10:01 to play. The Mountaineers never trailed in the second half and led by as many 16 en route to the win. One game after registering 32 points in an overtime win versus UNC Greensboro, Wade paced East Tennessee State (5-8, 1-1 SoCon) with 21 points. Junior forward Zakee Wadood (Lonoke, Ark.) finished with 15 points and equaled his season high with seven steals. Senior guard Ryan Lawson (Rogersville, Tenn.) recorded 13 points, four steals and four assists in the losing effort. Junior Jerald Fields (Gainesville, Fla.), nursing a sore ankle, contributed 11 points in 19 minutes off the bench. One of the nation's best in creating steals East Tennessee State recorded 21. It equals the most ever recorded against an ASU squad. ETSU induced 27 turnovers while making 20 of its own. East Tennessee State returns home to entertain The Citadel on Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip off is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Center.
