Childress Named Player of the Week

Asheville, N.C. (Dec. 17, 2001) - Senior Dimeco Childress (Columbia, Tenn.) was named the Southern Conference men's basketball Player of the Week today. He is the first East Tennessee State player honored with the award this season. This is the second time in his career that Childress has been honored as a SoCon Player of the Week. In ETSU's only game last week, Childress led the Bucs to an 84-57 win over James Madison, scoring 25 points, grabbing four rebounds and handing out three assists. He shot 9-for-14 from the floor, 2-for-5 from three-point range and hit all five of his free throws. He has now hit 17 consecutive free throws over the last three games. ETSU's leading scorer, Childress is eighth in the conference in scoring with his 15.4 points per game average. The Bucs have won four straight games and will host Shenandoah tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Center.
