Scott Carter named to Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team for second year

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 4, 2003) - East Tennessee State University fullback Scott Carter was named, for the second straight year, to the Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team for his performance in the classroom. The Buccaneer senior, from Knoxville, Tenn., majored in sports management and earned a 3.95 grade point average. Carter was one of eight Southern Conference players to earn the award. The 43 winners were chosen from 115 nominees and were announced at the Division I-AA football championship in Chattanooga, Tenn. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) and have been a starter or a key player, participating in 50 percent of the games played at his designated position. Carter was the Buccaneers third leading rusher in 2002. He rushed 72 times for 306 yards and averaged 25.5 rushing yards per game.
