East Tennessee State's Carter Earns Academic Honor

Johnson City, Tenn. (Jan 2, 2002) - Junior Scott Carter (Knoxville, Tenn.) of East Tennessee State University's football team earned another academic honor when he was named as one of 43 members of the fourth annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star team the organization announced. To be selected a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve, be at least a sophomore and carry a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.2. Carter, the teams starting fullback, is a sport management major. He finished the 2001 season as the team's second leading rusher, totaling of 243 yards on the ground, scoring four touchdowns. He has also caught four passes for another 13 yards. He was one of seven players from the Southern Conference to earn the honor. This is Carter's second academic recognition that he has received this year. In November he was selected as a regional Academic All-American.
