Football Loses At Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - J.R. Revere ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns and passed for another as Georgia Southern clinched its fourth consecutive Southern Conference crown with a 42-7 victory over East Tennessee State.
Revere scored on runs of 32 and 6 yards in the second quarter and connected with Chris Johnson on a 48-yard scoring pass in the third period.
Adrian Peterson had his 31st straight regular season 100-yard performance to tie the NCAA record set by Ohio State's Archie Griffin from 1973-75. Peterson had 106 yards on 13 carries. Including playoff games, Peterson has broken the 100-yard mark in all 39 of his career game.
Revere completed 7 of 12 passes for 125 yards for the Eagles (8-1, 7-0).
ETSU (4-4, 3-3)got its only score in the third quarter, a 1-yard run by Corey Carter that capped a 12-play, 55-yard drive. Todd Wells hit on 16 of 34 passes for 172 yards for the Bucaneers.
The Eagles took the lead just under five minutes into the game when Lavar Rainey picked off a Wells pass and returned it 49 yards for the score.
Southern's other scoring came on an 8-yard run by Andre Weathers in the first quarter and field goals of 45 and 37 yards by Rob Bironas.
