FT. MYERS, Fla. (May 21, 2014) – ETSU and Mercer just met last week in the regular season finale, and the two teams will square off once again on Thursday morning in an Atlantic Sun Championship elimination game. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. at FGCU’s Swanson Stadium.

Both teams fell in 10 innings on Wednesday as the sixth-seeded Bucs dropped an 11-7 heartbreaker to No. 3 Kennesaw State, while second-seeded Mercer suffered a 7-5 setback to No. 7 Stetson.

Since the Bucs joined the A-Sun in 2006, Mercer leads the all-time series 20-11, but ETSU has won three of the last four against the Bears – including two of three last weekend at Thomas Stadium. Eleven of the 31 games have been decided by two runs or less – with the Bears going 8-3 in those contests. The Bucs and Bears have met four times in postseason play, and Mercer has won three of those four meetings. ETSU defeated the Bears, 7-4 (10 innings), in last season’s conference tournament game in DeLand.

The winner of Thursday’s game will meet the loser of Kennesaw State/Stetson on Friday at 3 p.m.

Thursday’s game will be broadcast live on ASun.TV for free, while fans can listen to the call on WXSM-AM 640 The Extreme Sports Monster.
