ETSU Baseball Holds Scout Day
Wednesday, October 03, 2012
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 3, 2012) – The ETSU baseball team displayed their talents in front of a handful of scouts from several major league organizations last week as the Bucs held their annual Scout Day at Thomas Stadium.
The Bucs showcased their baseball skills in several drills on the field. First, players ran a 60-yard dash for the scouts in attendance, followed by the outfielders throwing from right field to third base and to home. From there, the infielders took pregame infield practice, while the hitters finished with batting practice. In the end, the scouts were able to take a look at several Buccaneer pitchers go through different pitch selections.
“Today was a great day for both the scouts and players,” said head coach Tony Skole. "We realize every young man who puts on a glove has dreams of playing in the big leagues, and these guys are pursuing those dreams. We had some guys who performed admirably and we’re excited about those performances. Now we can move on and get finished with the rest of our fall season.”
ETSU – who wraps up its fall season next week with the annual Blue/Gold World Series – will hold intrasquad scrimmages this weekend at Thomas Stadium. The scrimmages are open to the public, and will start at 3:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
