JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 26, 2012) – ETSU assistant baseball coach Xan Barksdale is featured in the current issue of “Inside Pitch Magazine” for his use of technology in baseball.

Barksdale is the author of Catching-101: The Complete Guide for Catchers and he has developed The Catcher’s Thumb. The Catcher's Thumb is a preventative splint to be used on your glove hand and it works by protecting the second joint in the thumb from hyper-extending.

Coach Barksdale also developed the Catcher's Performance Summary iPhone/iPad app. Most recently, Barksdale developed NeverMissASign, premier software for generating wristbands for coaches and players to communicate.  

In his first season at ETSU, Barksdale joined the program from the University of Louisville, where he was an assistant coach with the Cardinals for five seasons.
